As part of its vision of a future where companies will have easy access to the benefits of voice over IP technology, TeleHUMANA is bringing to service providers an integrated solution for deploying voice over IP using broadband Internet access.

TeleHUMANA operates a broadband telephony platform for service providers willing to offer voice over IP to its customers.


Service Description

Voice access can be offered through broadband links of at least 128kbps. Each concurrent call consumes, in average, 20kbps and the system can be used from ADSL, cable, radio or any other high quality broadband access.

Having a broadband access the user can receive a voice access kit that enables her to install the voice line by herself.

This voice access can be connected to a conventional phone or to a PBX trunk, enabling many corporate users to share the voice access through the enterprise.


Network Description

TeleHUMANA has in place the required infrastructure and procedure to fully support service providers willing to use the broadband telephony platform.

Three network datacenters, two in Miami (US) and another in Porto Alegre (Brazil), provide the required redundancy, network delay and packet loss to operate the system. Specialized hardware is used to provide registration, routing, authorization, billing and media relay functionality.

Additionaly operators may select their own datacenters to host relevant services to differentiate their offerings

Architecture is completely distributed and highly specialized allowing easy network expansion.


Service Features

To enable the platform operation by service providers, TeleHUMANA offers a comprehensive number of features that qualify service providers to decide about service quality, cost, customer pricing and innovative features:

  • utilization of IP adapter or soft phone;

  • capacity of making use of reserved IP addresses;

  • local dialing expansion rules configured by location to enable customers to call local numbers without dialing country and area codes;

  • web tool for registering users and voice phones;

  • web tool for managing IP phone adapter configuration;

  • web tool for generating management and operational reports, including, but not limited to, information as duration, destination, origin, cost, disconnection cause, margin, having a high variety of grouping and aggregates alternatives;

  • API to retrieve call detail records (CDRs);

  • 24x7 network operation center (NOC) to monitor and take pro-active and reactive actions using as inputs alarms and results of trend analysis based on specialized monitoring and reporting tools;

  • second level engineering support for platform problems;

  • training on all web tools, IP adapter configuration and customer problem troubleshooting;

  • necessary API documentation;

  • individual call billing based on origination rate tables previously provided;

  • individual call cost control based on termination rate tables previously provided;

  • capacity to extend platform in response to specialized requests;

  • capacity to manage and update per service provider route table.
